Community Action of Southern Indiana & MainSource Bank
Community Action of Southern Indiana (CASI) needed to update their technology to continue offering its free tax preparation services to families and individuals in their community as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. To do so successfully, CASI’s outdated computers either needed costly servicing or replacement, a huge cost when they looked at the 20 computers they needed.
Seeking an easier way to find support, CASI listed this need on findCRA.com. Within weeks, MainSource Bank discovered this opportunity online and was eager to help meet CASI’s needs by donating a classroom full of updated computers. In early December 2014, we delivered 20 computers to CASI, just in time for tax season.
Today, these computers are not only being used for the VITA program, but are also benefiting local small business leaders in CASI’s Micro-Enterprise Training Center. This year alone, CASI prepared over 750 free tax returns for its clients and even helped many of them enroll in affordable healthcare. Since this great donation, we’ve also connected CASI with other banks that have provided financial donations to help ensure the success and growth of these vital community services.
