Habitat for Humanity Banker’s House
For the past 22 years, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville has collaborated with banks throughout the community for their annual Banker’s House Build, constructing a new home for a qualifying Habitat family.
In early 2016, Habitat identified that funding for the current year’s home was falling below expectations. If the necessary funding wasn’t raised in time, not only would construction be delayed, but also the move-in date for the qualifying family. Seeing this need, Habitat reached out to findCRA to help spread the word to local bankers and seek their support.
With only a few weeks until the project construction was scheduled to kick-off, findCRA staff reached out to its network of Bank Partners and beyond. In just a few weeks, findCRA secured six bank sponsors for the 2016 Banker’s House, with other bank sponsors increasing their gift by nine times over their previous year’s gift. At the end of the day, findCRA brought nearly half of the funding needed to the project within 60 days of the request from Habitat. Many of these bankers also provided the needed volunteers to build the home, helping the homeowner achieve her dream of homeownership on schedule.
